Estonia's Government Voted on Bill This Week for Formal Creation of Digital Nomad Visa

We’ve heard the buzz for quite some time that Estonia had plans to create the world’s first “Digital Nomad” visa, and in news shared today -their government got a significant step closer.


“In an almost unanimous vote – 83 votes in favor and only 1 contrary – the local Parliament approved last Wednesday (3) the creation of a “Digital Nomad Visa. This new visa allows people from other countries to enter Estonia as tourists and, at the same time, can continue to work for a foreign employer or as a freelancer, regardless of location” ourbitcoinnews.com writes. Digital Nomadism “tends to fall into limbo between simple tourism and a work visa” the site further adds.


While this is progress toward making the visas actually ready for applicants - Estonian news site news.err.ee points out: “The amendment still needs to pass three readings in the Riigikogu, among other processes, before it can enter in to force.”. Read the full text here.
