Dating back to origins in 1687, Crop Over Festival in Barbados symbolizes the end of the harvesting season, and is one of the oldest festivals in the Western Hemisphere. Today, August 1st (the 1st Monday in August) marks “Grand kadooment day” in Barbados - the day that signifies the end of crop over and is arguably the biggest day of crop over. Today is an especially lively celebration where you’ll find locals in extravagant costumes, dancing & celebrating their unique culture and music.
