We launched a Facebook Group for Womxn Nomads - Here's Why

Without question - there were two big take-aways from the past few months of quarantine and the racial/political unrest that exploded,

1. The “work from home”/ “work from anywhere” lifestyle is here to stay well past resolve of covid, with a bigger population of digital nomads expected to follow once more destinations reopen safely, and

2. An anti-racist stance on diversity matters and purposeful inclusion/ equity is what we really need to push the needle on eradicating systemic racism, across the board in all things.

We see compelling reasons why there is a nexus between these two take-aways, and saw an opportunity to nurture a community from the ground up for the growing amount of digital nomads, particularly for women, in a post-covid world, rooted in inclusion/equity.

With that in mind, we’re proud to formally introduce the Womxn Nomads Facebook Group Sponsored by Adventurely!

Womxn Nomads on Facebook was launched to create an inclusive, intersectional community for womxn digital nomads traveling the world, working remotely, and living life on their own terms.

While current/formal statistics generally show a higher amount of men who engage in the digital nomad lifestyle, women for many years have been traveling solo leisurely at rates that far surpass men.

Hostelworld revealed findings from their 2019 Evolution of the Hostel Traveller report, which showed a whopping 75% of women have gone or are planning a backpacking trip, as opposed to only two thirds of men, and bookings for solo female travelers have gone up by 88% over the past four years.

"Where solo travel was once seen as brave and risky for female travellers, a shift in attitude has meant that it is now an adventurous, exciting experience that allows them to feel free, and empower other women to do the same."

What this indicates to us in light of the fast transition around the world to a work from home/work from anywhere lifestyle: - there’s soon going to be a lot more women digital nomads, traveling and working remotely within this new normal, and we hope that the Womxn Nomads group could be be a great community they can turn to for nurturing deeper connections and sisterhood while on the road.
